Choosing Your Ceremony Music

Choosing the music for your ceremony can be surprisingly tricky. Your aisle song needs to do more than just sound beautiful… it needs to work with the logistics of everyone walking down it.

Think about how long your aisle is, how many people are in your bridal party, whether you want your bridesmaids walking to a different song from you, and how much space you want between each person. Most importantly, choose a song that gives you plenty of time. Make sure there’s still around 30 seconds of music left when you reach the end of the aisle. This gives the person plkaying the music (at Omahanui we do this for you) time to slowly fade the music while you have that lovely moment with whoever has walked you down the aisle, then get yourselves into position at the altar.

The signing of the register

The signing can take longer than you think - sometimes up to 10 minutes - so we recommend choosing two songs for this part of the ceremony. It gives you plenty of music to cover the moment without having to worry about a song running out. At The Nui, if both songs finish (or you only chose one song) and you’re still going we will replay one.

Now for the fun one...

Your recessional is your moment to celebrate! Choose something a little more upbeat, turn it up loud and enjoy walking back down that aisle as newlyweds. This is one song where you really can have some fun with it.

We’ve put together three playlists on the Omahanui Spotify account to help get you started: Processional, Signing of the Register and Recessional. They’re made up of songs our couples have actually walked, signed and celebrated to at The Nui, so there’s plenty of inspiration in there.

A couple of important Spotify tips

If you’re using Spotify for your ceremony music, put your songs into one playlist and make sure they’re in the exact order you want them played. Download the playlist to your device before the wedding - do not rely on Wi-Fi or mobile data. Again, at Omahanui we will take care of this for you and double check all songs at your rehearsal. There is literally nothing worse than glitchy ceremony music!

Also check your Spotify playback settings and make sure Crossfade is set to 0 seconds. You don't want your signing song starting to play over the end of your processional as you’re still walking down the aisle.

And finally; walk slowly, take it all in and have fun.
